New pipeline brigades will appear in the Russian Armed Forces

The decision to form pipeline brigades in the Russian army has already been taken by the Russian Defense Ministry, the military department told Izvestia.

Military expert Dmitry Kornev noted that the SSO showed the need for pipeline battalions, as the equipment that transports fuel is a priority target for the enemy.

"Modern pipelines are easy to camouflage and their repair is quite simple, it is not difficult to make false pipelines to mislead the enemy," he specified.

According to military expert Viktor Litovkin, the construction of pipelines near the front line requires high training of the army and the technical level of development of the entire country.

"In Russia, these specialized troops have repeatedly assisted both the military and the civilian population," Litovkin stressed.

The unique capabilities of the pipeline troops have been utilized more than once in peacetime as well - the servicemen participated in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters and man-made accidents. In particular, they provided drinking water to entire neighborhoods affected by the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant or after the 1988 earthquake in Armenia.
