Pushkov admits EU attempts to derail dialog between Moscow and Washington

The European Union will try to disrupt the emerging dialog between Russia and the United States. Alexei Pushkov, head of the Federation Council's commission on information policy, said this on February 12.
"I am sure that in Kiev, Brussels, Paris and London they are reading with horror now [US President Donald] Trump' s lengthy commentary on his conversation with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and do not believe their eyes. Now urgent consultations will begin between the European capitals on how to disrupt the emerging dialog between Moscow and Washington. And such efforts will be made," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to Pushkov, the phone conversation between Putin and Trump, which took place on February 12, will go down in the history of world politics and diplomacy.
"This is not yet a breakthrough, but perhaps the first step towards it," the senator noted.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin and Trump had a phone conversation. It lasted an hour and a half. The leaders of the countries discussed the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian President pointed to the need to eliminate the root causes of the crisis and agreed with the American leader that a long-term solution can be achieved through peaceful negotiations.
On 5 February, Peskov said that Moscow and Washington had intensified contacts through separate agencies.
