Panchenko spoke about the Kurchatov Institute's work on the development of the SG's scientific strategy

The National Research Center (NRC) "Kurchatov Institute" takes part in the development of the strategy of scientific and technological development of the Union State (US), cooperating in this with the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). This was announced on February 12 by Vice-President of the Kurchatov Institute, Vice-President of the RAS Academician Vladislav Panchenko.

He recalled that two years ago, on the initiative of the Kurchatov Institute, a committee was established, which is headed by the presidents of the RAS and SRC Gennady Krasnikov and Mikhail Kovalchuk.

"We are solving very many pressing problems together. <...> One of the results of this work is the strategy <...> of scientific and technological development of the Union State, which was directly made by the Kurchatov Institute in cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences," Panchenko said.

Panchenko pointed out that along with the Union project it is necessary to support joint testing of new technological ideas that qualify for grants, because it allows to find new promising teams. Such groups need financial support at the initial stage of formation.

Earlier in the day, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev said that 12 promising programs of the Union State are now being worked on. He added that every ruble of the Union's budget should be spent reasonably, and the results of this work should fit into the integration agenda.

Kovalchuk told Izvestia on November 27, 2024 that it is now very important to create common scientific and technological spaces of the SU and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The head of the SIC noted that Russia and Belarus are integrated at a high level, and they have common tasks in the field of science.
