Mezentsev assessed the role of scientists of the Kurchatov Institute and the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Union State

On February 12, Secretary of State of the Union State (SS) Dmitry Mezentsev noted the serious contribution of scientists of the National Research Center (NRC) "Kurchatov Institute" and the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) to joint Russian-Belarusian scientific projects.

He thanked the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov and President of SRC "Kurchatov Institute" Mikhail Kovalchuk Mikhail Kovalchuk and their teams for their response in expert work regarding proposals coming in as a basis for future SG programs.

"Of course, we especially appreciate your personal contribution of the Academy leadership, Kurchatov Institute leadership in the development of those proposals that laid the foundation for the development of a new level of relations with scientists of Belarus," - Mezentsev noted after the meeting to summarize the results of the implementation of programs, activities and the use of funds of the SG budget in 2024.

According to him, this is confirmed by the decision of the SG on the formation of a common scientific and technological space until 2030. He also recalled that the leaders of Russia and Belarus decided to establish the Union State Prize for young scientists.

"This is the work that allows us to ensure the proper level of competitiveness in the real sectors of the economy, the proper level of groundwork for the future so that we do not copy and catch up, but to be ourselves, if it is possible to say so in relation to scientific research, the legislators of those fashions that will largely ensure the advanced frontiers of Russian and Belarusian science," Mezentsev said.

Earlier, January 20, Mezentsev said that Moscow and Minsk had implemented the fifth part of the action plan to implement the provisions of the agreement on the creation of the Union State for 2024-2026. The fifth part of the 310 tasks, which formed the basis of 31 action plans to implement the provisions of the agreement, has already been successfully completed, he added.
