U.S. Senate confirms Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence

The Senate of the U.S. Congress has confirmed Tulsi Gabbard to the post of Director of National Intelligence of the country. This was reported by The New York Post (NYP) on February 12.
Gibbard gained 52 votes of the members of the upper chamber, 48 people opposed her candidacy.
US President Donald Trump proposed her candidacy in November last year.
It is specified that the nomination of the ex-Congresswoman from the Democrats aroused a lot of interest. However, according to numerous checks by US Senator Tom Cotton, Gibbard's record is clean.
Before that, on February 10, it was reported that candidates for US intelligence and law enforcement jobs were being vetted for loyalty to Trump. The interviews were conducted by staff hired by the new administration.
Earlier, on January 25, the Associated Press reported on loyalty checks for employees wishing to work under Trump. It was noted that a negative post on social media or a photo with an opponent of the president was enough for some applications to be rejected or postponed for further consideration.
Prior to that, Gabbard said on Nov. 12, 2024, that Trump's goal is to prevent World War III. She noted that all diplomatic measures should be tried before sending the U.S. Armed Forces to hot spots, and that is one of the reasons why many Americans voted for Trump.
