It is established that a 50-year-old man, armed with a knife, approached the altar during the service and attacked the 38-year-old pastor, the latter managed to escape unharmed. The intruder then plunged the knife into the altar and sat on a chair behind him.
"As the suspect approached the pastor, fortunately he was able to see it - whether he saw he had a knife or his sixth sense kicked in - and he managed to avoid being attacked by the suspect," said the city's police press officer, Constable Stephen Spencer.
The detainee has been charged with several offenses, including assault with a weapon. Information about his motives is not yet available.
Earlier, on February 9, it was reported that a man was arrested in Dublin, who stabbed three people. The attack took place in several streets in the Stoneybutter neighborhood in the Irish capital.
