There was a week of high atmospheric pressure in Central Russia, but it is over, and now there is a gradual decrease in pressure. "Barometric blows" and "baric saws" are not expected in the foreseeable future - in the coming week - Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia on February 12.

He noted that the center of the anticyclone was close to the center of the European part of the country. The forecaster also specified that high atmospheric pressure is observed several times a year.

"There was extremely high atmospheric pressure. But it peaked on February 7-8. After that, the pressure began to decrease, the decrease is rather indistinct, not jumping. But we cannot call it a "shock". It is an extreme high pressure stretched in time. The pressure returns to the normal level and will remain so in the foreseeable future. So, 'baric saws' and 'barometric blows' are not expected," Shuvalov added.

Earlier, on February 7, leading specialist of the weather center "Phobos" Mikhail Leus said that in Moscow was recorded a daily record of high atmospheric pressure. At this time barometer columns rose to the mark of 774.3 mm.
