The peace formulas proposed by Kiev and the West to settle the conflict in Ukraine are unrealistic at the moment. This was stated by Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Aleksey Shevtsov on February 12.

"As for the new 'Minsk'. The situation has changed dramatically, and the different formulas that the Kiev regime and its Western patrons have proposed are unrealistic," he told reporters.

At the same time, according to Shevtsov, there has always been an opportunity to direct the development of events in a peaceful direction, and at the moment there is also an opportunity. He pointed out that in order for this to happen, cardinal changes in the approach of the West are needed, which must understand the real causes of the crisis and "recognize the realities that have emerged on the ground."

Earlier in the day, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Kiev had done everything to "bury" the Minsk agreements with the connivance of the West. She pointed out that a "set of measures" by Western countries was supposed to stop the internal armed conflict in southeastern Ukraine, which erupted as a result of the unconstitutional coup d'état in Kiev in 2014, as well as the subsequent anti-people actions of the country's new nationalist government.

Earlier, on February 6, Bloomberg reported that U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg will present a plan created by the head of state to resolve the conflict at the Munich Security Conference. According to the agency, a potential freezing of the conflict is among the possible options. The conference will be held from February 14 to 16.

Before that, on February 4, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the alliance had prepared secret tactics for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine. At the same time, he added that the West should provide Kiev with the best possible position by providing it with weapons and training for Ukrainian soldiers.

The last round of talks between Russia and Ukraine took place in Istanbul on March 29, 2022. They lasted about three hours. Later, Kiev officially refused contacts with Moscow. On October 4, 2022, the Ukrainian president put into effect the decision of the country's National Security and Defense Council that it was impossible to hold talks with Putin
