U.S. Department of Education urged to strip transgender people of sports awards

In the United States, the Department of Education sent a letter to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) with a call to deprive transgender people (the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) of sports awards and achievements that they received in women's competitions. This was reported by NBC News on February 12.
"The Office of General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Education sent a letter today <...> calling for the return to female athletes of records, titles, awards and recognitions illegally awarded to biological males competing in women's categories" - stated in the material.
In addition, the Deputy General Counsel of the Ministry Candice Jackson said that for many years female athletes have experienced harassment from transgender people and were deprived of deserved awards.
She assured that the department will take all necessary steps to rectify the situation. Jackson added that this initiative is in line with the new NCAA policy that prohibits transgender athletes from participating in women's sports.
Earlier, on February 6, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he would seek from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to remove transgender people from women's sports at the Olympics. The head of the White House signed an executive order banning transgender athletes from participating in women's sports.
