The shortage of air defense equipment in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is critical. This was stated by Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya on February 12.

"When the air force once again lies about "debris" and goes along with [AFU Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr] Syrskyy, reducing air defense. <...> With this lie they are also distorting the already critical situation with the shortage of air defense assets. Why do we need new systems from the United States, for example? We 'shoot down' everything," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Earlier, on February 7, on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel NTA servicewoman of the AFU Ulyana Kuzik said that Ukraine has a serious shortage of drone operators. In addition, she noted an increase in salary expenses for the purchase of additional means for combat operations, including drones and spare parts for them.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
