Vilfand predicted abnormal frosts in Moscow next week

Frosts up to -15 degrees are expected in Moscow next week - the air temperature will be four degrees below the climatic norm. This was reported by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand on Wednesday, February 12.

"From February 13 to 15, the air temperature in the night hours will fall to -9 degrees, and in the region - to -12, during the day - from -5 to -7. Starting from Sunday and until the middle of next week will be more frosty weather - from -10 to -15 degrees at night, and during the day - from -7 to -9, and in the region - -11 degrees," - said the forecaster to the agency of city news "Moscow".

He noted that in the coming weekend on February 15 and 16, a small snow is expected in the capital.

"A little snow is predicted on Saturday and Sunday, but it is not the kind of snow that will allow you to get up on skis. The height of the snow cover will grow up to 4 centimeters," the forecaster concluded.

The day before, Vilfand predicted a cold snap in the center of the European part of the country on Saturday, February 15. According to him, on this day is expected from -13 to -6 degrees, reports 360.ru. He emphasized that the temperature in the center of Russia will be below the norm for the first time in 2025, RT reports.

Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a specialist of the Meteonovosti information agency, also predicted cold weather in Moscow and the Moscow region this week on February 10. According to her, by the weekend the average daily air temperature will approach the climatic norm, and in some places even become lower than it.

Before that, on February 9, leading expert of the weather center "Phobos" Evgeny Tishkovets said that by the end of February, the temperature regime in Russia will return to the climatic trend. He added that precipitation of about 9-13 mm is also expected in the last 10 days of winter.
