Russia and Sudan agree on the establishment of a naval base


Russia and Sudan have come to an understanding on the agreement on the base of the Russian Navy. This was announced by Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Yousef Sharif on February 12.
"We have reached an understanding on this issue," he said at a press conference following talks in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
He clarified that the sides agreed on everything and agreed on everything.
Earlier, on August 23, 2024, the Russian embassy in the East African state confirmed to Izvestia that the agreement between Russia and Sudan on the opening of a logistics support point (LSP) of the Russian Navy on the Red Sea coast remains in force.
The agreement, signed on December 1, 2020, assumed that the staff of the base would not exceed 300 people, including military personnel and civilians. At the same time, it should receive no more than four ships at a time.
