Prince William of Wales may become a "secret weapon" in building the UK's relationship with US President Donald Trump's administration. This was reported by The Telegraph newspaper on February 12.
According to the publication, after Joe Biden took over the White House in 2021, world leaders thought that "Trump's reign was over for good." However, Britain's King Charles III continued to maintain a personal correspondence with the former president.
"Now that Trump is settling into a second term in the White House, this transatlantic arm of royal friendship between the president, the king and now Prince William may define a 'special relationship' for a new era," the piece said.
The Telegraph recalled that in December 2024, Trump and Prince William held a 40-minute meeting in Paris behind closed doors. According to an anonymous White House source, the Prince of Wales now has a "really powerful and important" influence on the future of relations between the two countries.
Earlier, the media wrote, relations between London and Washington were undermined by the actions of the Labor government. Trump also claimed that the UK was "crossing the line" on trade policy issues.
"However, White House sources told The Telegraph that the president's instinctive affection for Britain remains. And this budding relationship with Prince William is a key factor," the paper noted.
