The activities of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have caused significant damage to many countries, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said at a press conference during his visit to Kazakhstan.

"This organization itself is the tip of a big iceberg, under it come various NPOs (non-profit organization. - Ed.), NGOs (non-governmental organization. - Ed.), under it come pseudo-humanitarian organizations, starting with the White Helmets and ending with many others," Shoigu said.

According to him, many countries realized the essence of the organization after it had caused them "significant damage."

Shoigu also noted that USAID's goals have "long been clear" to Russia and reminded that its activities in the country were stopped back in 2012.

Earlier, on February 3, American billionaire Ilon Musk announced the launch of the process to liquidate USAID. The businessman noted that the agency is not recoverable and it should be closed. At the same time, US President Donald Trump called the heads of the agency radical madmen.

The Bloomberg agency reported on February 5 that Musk's team gained access to the room where secret USAID documents are stored. In addition, more than 100 employees of the agency were sent on administrative leave. Later, on February 7, it became known that a court in the United States blocked Trump's decision to recall USAID employees from their positions and send them on leave until February 14.

In addition, on February 10, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Moscow had repeatedly said that USAID supported radicals around the world, but this was written off as Russian "propaganda."
