People's Artist of the USSR Oleg Strizhenov has been farewelled in Moscow

A farewell to People's Artist of the USSR Oleg Strizhenov has been completed in Moscow in the Church of St. Nicholas on the Three Hills. This was reported by the correspondent of "Izvestia" on February 12.

His friends, relatives and colleagues, including TV host Elena Malysheva, actress Ekaterina Strizhenova and her husband actor Alexander, People's Artist of Russia Leonid Yakubovich, Honored Artist of Russia Larisa Guzeyeva, People's Artist of the RSFSR Larisa Luzhina and others came to see the artist off.

Strizhenov died in hospital onFebruary 9 at the 96th year of life. This was reported to "Izvestia" by his wife Lionella Strizhenova. The causes of death are not specified.

Debut picture of the artist in 1955 was "The Gadfly" directed by Alexander Faintsimmera. The actor is also known for such films as "Walking for Three Seas", "Captain's Daughter", "Queen of Spades", "Duel", "Three Sisters" and "Unsuited".

In 1988 Strizhenov received the title of People's Artist of the USSR. In addition, the actor was awarded the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" II and III degrees. The actor was awarded the prize of the Guild of Russian Cinema Actors "For Outstanding Contribution to the Profession" in 1999 and the "Golden Eagle" award in the nomination "For Contribution to Cinema Art" in 2010.

Putin on February 10 expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased People's Artist of the USSR. He said that Strizhenov was part of the circle of those illustrious creators, for whom cinema and theater art was a vocation.
