- The State Duma passed in the first reading the bill on new rules for passing the USE

The State Duma (GD) has passed in the first reading a bill providing for new rules for passing the GCSE in five regions of the Russian Federation. This was announced by the press service of the lower house of parliament on its official website on February 12.
Thus, schoolchildren who plan to receive secondary vocational education after the ninth grade will take only two exams - mathematics and Russian language. At the same time, nothing will change for students who want to continue their education in the 10th grade: in addition to math and Russian language, they will take two more exams of their choice.
At the moment the bill is envisaged for five regions of the Russian Federation: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov and Tyumen regions, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that by the second reading of the bill, the list of regions where the norms of the law will be implemented may be expanded.
"We receive a large number of requests to expand the list of pilot projects. Regions justify their participation in this experiment, so by the second reading it is not excluded that this list will be expanded," - said Volodin.
It is specified that the regions themselves will determine the minimum number of points required to pass the exams.
It became known earlier, on January 17, about the introduction in the State Duma of a bill on the passing in five regions of only two subjects at the GCSE. Then it was specified that it is also proposed to test a new procedure for enrolling applicants for training in secondary vocational education programs at the expense of regional and local budgets.
On December 11, 2024 the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and Rosobrnadzor approved the schedule of the main state examination for 2025. Thus, the exams of the early period of the OGE in 2025 will begin on April 22, and the main period - May 21 and 22.
Before that, on December 1, expert Marina Stepanova expressed the opinion that the abolition of the USE for college entrance would be difficult to implement. At the same time, she called the idea of leaving only two compulsory exams after the ninth grade a good one.
