In Krasnoyarsk, police officers opened a criminal case over the discovery of the body of a newborn baby in a garbage can. This was reported by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Krasnoyarsk region in Telegram-channel on February 12.

According to preliminary data, a 16-year-old girl was admitted to the local hospital, who needed medical assistance after premature labor. It is specified that the girl, who is believed to be 22 weeks pregnant, gave birth to the baby on her own in the apartment, and then disposed of the body by throwing it into a garbage can.

"At present, investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of what happened. In order to establish whether the infant was live-born or stillborn, as well as the cause of death, a forensic medical examination has been appointed," the statement said

A criminal case has been opened against her on the grounds of a crime under Article 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of a newborn child by the mother").

The suspect in the case is the babies' father.

Earlier, on February 11, a source of "Izvestiya" said that a local resident of Stavropol smothered her four-month-old daughter with a pillow. According to the interlocutor, the 33-year-old woman smothered the child with a pillow and then tried to settle the score with her life. Police officers arrested the child's mother. A criminal case has been opened against her.
