Switzerland for the first time confirmed the death of an AFU mercenary in Ukraine


The Swiss Foreign Ministry has for the first time confirmed the death of a citizen of its country who was a member of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). This was reported on February 12 by SRF television and radio company with reference to the agency.
"The Ukrainian army at the beginning of the year informed the Swiss Embassy in Kiev that, apparently, a Swiss citizen died during combat operations," - stated in the material.
Details about the reasons for the death of the mercenary is not specified.
It is noted that for military service abroad citizens of Switzerland may face a fine or punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to three years.
According to the TV company, currently the military justice of the confederation is conducting a criminal investigation against 13 Swiss citizens who are suspected of mercenarism on Ukrainian territory.
Earlier, on December 20, 2024, Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev said that the count of foreign mercenaries in the ranks of the AFU, liquidated or arrested, goes into the thousands. British instructors will also join these lists.
That same year, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said that Russia was receiving more and more evidence of the presence of a significant number of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine fighting for the AFU. In particular, the number of Colombian mercenaries is increasing.
