Media reported on the expansion of Ilon Musk's authority at DOGE

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order expanding the powers of billionaire Ilon Musk within the framework of his activities in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This was reported by NBC News on February 12.
"President Donald Trump said he has signed an executive order giving tech billionaire Ilon Musk more authority over the federal workforce, which will facilitate a rapid and sweeping consolidation of Musk's political influence," the piece said.
Trump praised the work of the agency Musk runs and said he wants the entrepreneur to do even more, even as DOGE faces numerous lawsuits from labor unions and Democratic state attorneys general.
"The new executive order directs federal agencies to 'coordinate and consult' with DOGE on job cuts and hiring restrictions," the TV station writes.
It is specified that each agency will be obliged to reduce its staff on a large scale and limit hiring to only "essential positions."
According to NBC News, for more than 30 minutes of conversation with journalists, Musk and Trump used the words "waste", "fraud" or "abuse" dozens of times.
Earlier, on February 5, NBC News reported that Musk has recently received reminders from the White House that his power is limited. It is noted that President Trump's aides have made it clear to Musk that he is an employee of the Chief of Staff and must report to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
