There were 212 road accidents in Russia over the past day

Over the past 24 hours, 212 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 239 injured. 18 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Wednesday, February 12, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 70 traffic accidents involving pedestrians, five people were killed, another 67 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 14 child pedestrians, eight of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents with pedestrians, 35 occurred at crosswalks and the same number outside their zone of action.

On the roads of Russia there were 15 accidents involving buses, in which one person was killed and 20 more road users required medical assistance. The cause of eight accidents involving buses was traffic violations committed by their drivers. There were 22 accidents involving minors, in which 22 young road users were injured, including seven passengers. There were no children killed.

In addition, in Krasnoyarsk region due to adverse weather conditions in the form of snow, blizzard, gusty wind and limited visibility continues the temporary restriction of buses and trucks on a 25-kilometer section of the federal highway R-255 "Siberia" (Novosibirsk - Kemerovo - Krasnoyarsk - Irkutsk) from 1021 km to 1046 km.

The State Automobile Inspectorate recommended motorists to follow the weather forecast and media information from the places of restrictions or possible traffic closures when planning long-distance trips in this region. In case of a negative forecast, strong winds and snowfall, it is worth refraining from using personal vehicles for a while, and in urban conditions - to use public services.

"If you do set off, in conditions of limited visibility and winter weather, especially in the early morning, evening or night, do not exceed the authorized speed limit and avoid risky driving behavior. Before leaving, always check the technical condition of your vehicle, the operation of lights, "wipers", braking system, the availability of tires in season and the filling of the fuel tank", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.

The State Automobile Inspectorate urged drivers in conditions of snowfall, blizzard, strong wind, ice and limited visibility to reduce speed and increase the distance to the vehicle ahead, as well as to refuse frequent rearrangements, avoid sharp maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic rules related to the start of traffic, rearrangement, turning, turning and stopping.
