This year, the price increase for technical inspection is expected to be within 10% of the current cost. This was told to "Izvestia" on February 12 by the creator and head of the ID20 project (fleet management program) Mikhail Komarov.

"Tariffs for technical inspection are indexed taking into account inflation, which in 2024 in Russia amounted to about 9.52%. The high inflation rate puts pressure on prices, including the cost of services such as technical inspection. Thus, from January 1, 2025, most regions have seen an increase in the price of technical inspection by more than 7%, which confirms the assumption of further possible growth," Komarov said.

The cost of technical inspection is regulated by regional authorities, and different subjects of the Russian Federation may decide to increase tariffs during the year, especially if the cost of equipment, rental of premises or staff salaries of operators of technical inspection will increase, the specialist suggested. For example, from January 1, 2025 in Moscow the cost of technical inspection for passenger cars (category M1) increased from 1101 to 1182 rubles, while in the Amur region in 2025 it is 1690 rubles.

In addition, there may be changes in legislation. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia has proposed changes to the methodology for calculating tariffs for technical inspection. If these proposals are adopted, the minimum cost of technical inspection may increase one and a half times from January 1, 2026, the expert emphasized.

The day before it was reported that the average cost of a car with mileage in Russia in January 2025 amounted to 2 million rubles, which is 12% lower than in the same month last year. According to analysts, the average cost of a car with mileage not older than 15 years has not changed much compared to December 2024. The number of ads for this period decreased by only 2%, and compared to January 2024, the volume of supply increased by 52%.
