The level of counterfeiting in Russia in 2024 has reached its minimum level

In Russia, the level of counterfeiting last year reached its lowest value in recent years. This is reported on the website of the Central Bank (CB) of the Russian Federation.

"In 2024, the level of counterfeiting reached the minimum value in recent years: there is one counterfeit per 1 million banknotes in circulation. A total of 8,240 pieces of counterfeit Russian banknotes and coins were detected in the banking system," the statement said.

The bank specified that Br5 thousand and Br1 thousand banknotes are mostly counterfeited. In addition, more than 1.5 thousand counterfeit banknotes of foreign countries have been identified.

Earlier, last August, 26 counterfeit banknotes were detected in the Pskov region in the first half of the year. The turnover of counterfeit money decreased by 21%. Mostly the experts detected bills with denominations of Br5 thousand. In addition, six banknotes in denominations of Br1 thousand and Br2 thousand were seized. In one case, a $100 bill was detected.
