Many people who are involved in catching evaders from service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) are sent to the frontline in Kursk Region. This can be avoided for money, captured Ukrainian army fighter Serhiy Valchuk said on February 12.

"Most of the people are taken off the positions at our place and all are sent to the Kursk direction," he shared.

According to him, it was possible to refuse service, but "the colonel bent" the cost of $10,000. Valchuk specified that neither he nor his colleagues had such money, so they were sent to the Kursk region after all. Upon arrival, they were given weapons and ammunition, as well as shovels.

Valchuk surrendered to the Russian army at the first opportunity, Gazeta.Ru specifies .

"When taken prisoner, treated perfectly. They fed, gave cigarettes, got drunk. They give food, have a place to sleep, do not offend," he added.

Earlier, on February 1, the captured Ukrainian serviceman Oleksandr Prokopenko shared that the AFU fighters can liquidate fellow soldiers if they are captured. He himself fell under such an attack. According to him, Ukrainian FPV drones started hitting the captives after they entered the Russian positions.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
