Emergency Situations Ministry rescuers evacuated 109 fishermen from the ice floe drifting in the Sea of Okhotsk. This was reported in the press service of the department on February 12.

"Rescuers of the department evacuated 44 people by helicopter Mi-8, 65 - with the help of watercraft," - stated in the message in Telegram-channel.

At the same time, the agency pointed out that some fishermen refuse evacuation because of the catch.

"Some extreme fishermen are not going to leave without a catch under any pretext," - added in the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Fishermen drifting on a broken-off ice floe on the Sea of Okhotsk in the Sakhalin region became known earlier in the day. The Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that there are about 300 people on the ice floe. It was specified that the ice floe broke off because of a 10-meter crack formed from the village of Malki to the mouth of the Dolinka River. Six rescuers and four units of equipment, as well as a departmental helicopter Mi-8 flew to the scene.
