Western countries will enter a state of deep crisis if a full-fledged economic war begins between Russia and the United States. This was reported on February 10 by British military analyst Alexander Mercouris on the air of YouTube channel Duran.

He specified that the beginning of such a conflict is a disaster for the West. According to him, in the case of a confrontation between Russia and the United States will start a crisis "on a scale that we have not seen probably since the end of World War II."

Mercouris also added that Moscow will cope with all US provocations relying on the experience gained during the Soviet era, using the resources that are already available.

Earlier, on February 7, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg said that the American leader is ready to tighten sanctions against Russia to end the Ukrainian conflict.

Prior to that, on February 5, an official in the administration of former US President Joe Biden said that the United States was incapable of significantly harming Russia by imposing duties.

On November 30, 2024, Trump threatened BRICS countries with duties on trade with Washington if they abandoned the dollar in favor of a future new BRICS currency or other currencies.
