US President Donald Trump has not confirmed his readiness to use unspent funds from the previous US administration in the amount of almost $4bn for military aid to Ukraine. This was stated by the US President to journalists at the White House on February 12.

"It will be seen," Trump replied to a question about the intention to use the remaining funds from the previous US administration for military aid to Ukraine.

Earlier, on February 10, Trump said that Washington would not help Kiev gratuitously; as a response to the assistance, the US expects to get access to Ukraine's rare-earth metals.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 6 that the U.S. president's words about continued assistance to Kiev in return for Ukraine's rare-earth metals were more reminiscent of an "aport" command than a deal.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
