Wilfand predicted bad weather in more than 10 Russian regions


Strong wind, snowstorms and icy conditions are expected in more than 10 regions of the country this week. This was reported by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand on February 12.
According to him, strong winds of up to 26 m/s are forecast in the regions of northwestern Russia, while in the Volga region and the Urals wind gusts will reach 21 m/s.
"In the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Komi in the coming days snow, winds of 15-20 m/s, in the Nenets Okrug even up to 26 m/s are forecast. In the Perm Territory will be heavy snow, in the Sverdlovsk region is expected wind up to 21 m / s," - specified Vilfand in conversation with TASS.
In addition, he noted that bad weather is predicted in Siberia. Thus, snow and ice will be observed in the Tomsk region, and in the southern parts of the Krasnoyarsk region, Irkutsk region, Altai Krai, Altai Republic and Kemerovo region snowstorms and wind up to 25 m/s are expected until the end of the working week.
Vilfand also added that on Wednesday night wind gusts in Chukotka may reach 35-40 m/s. Snow will intensify in the region and visibility will worsen.
On the eve, February 11, the scientific director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center predicted a cold snap in the center of the European part of the country on Saturday, February 15. According to him, from -13 to -6 degrees Celsius is expected on that day. The forecaster emphasized that the temperature in the center of Russia will be below normal for the first time in 2025.
Specialist of the information agency "Meteonovosti" Tatyana Pozdnyakova on February 10 also predicted cold weather in Moscow and Moscow region this week. According to her, by the weekend, the average daily air temperature will be close to the climatic norm, and in some places will even become lower than it.
Before that, on February 9, leading expert of the weather center "Phobos" Evgeny Tishkovets said that by the end of February, the temperature regime in Russia will return to the climatic trend. He added that precipitation of about 9-13 mm is also expected in the last 10 days of winter.
