Severo-Kurilsk schools switched to distance learning due to bad weather

In Severo-Kurilsk, Sakhalin Oblast, schools have switched to a distance learning format due to a heavy snowstorm. This was reported to Izvestia on February 12 by the district administration.

The authorities specified that wind gusts in the city limits reached 35 m/s.

Earlier, on February 6, in Penzhinsky district in the north of Kamchatka extended until the end of the week the high alert mode, introduced due to abnormal frosts at the end of January. The temperature may drop to -46 degrees Celsius. Villagers were urged not to leave their homes without an urgent need.

Before that, on February 5, bad weather caused power outages in the Novgorod region - more than 3.5 thousand people were left without light due to a snow cyclone. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, more than 40 rescuers with 12 units of equipment were involved in the elimination of accidents.
