A BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of the Center group of troops has launched an artillery strike on a Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) stronghold in the Krasnoarmeyskoye direction of the special military operation (SMO). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 12.

According to the ministry, the salvo was conducted with 122-millimeter fragmentation-fugitive shells at enemy targets in hiding.

"Our 'birdies' saw the accumulation of personnel there. And within two minutes we had to work on them. Until they loaded on the equipment, until they did not rotate. We worked quickly, hit the target," said the commander of the combat vehicle Pavel Panov.

At the same time, control over the destruction of targets, fire correction and transfer of coordinates of the location of Ukrainian militants was carried out by the calculation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) reconnaissance unit of the group, the agency added.

Earlier, on February 10, an artillery unit of the Center group's Msta-S self-propelled artillery unit destroyed an AFU mortar unit and an ammunition depot on the Krasnoarmeyskoye direction. Having received data on the location of the target, the gun crew quickly prepared for firing and began to fulfill the combat mission.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
