MEP talks about US pressure on EU

Washington is putting pressure on the European Union (EU) to shift aid to Ukraine onto the shoulders of European taxpayers, Bulgarian MEP Rada Laikova said in an interview with Izvestia.

"With USAID's apparently not-so-"peaceful" aid to Ukraine being cut off and the real prospect of the US simply withdrawing from the conflict, there is growing pressure on the EU to fill the gap," she said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump ordered the suspension of aid to foreign countries, including Ukraine, for 90 days. Kiev has received $35 billion in aid from USAID alone.
