The Moldovan opposition has sent a request to Moldovan President Maia Sandu and the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PDS) for a report on the USAID funding of the country . This was announced on February 11 by Vasili Bolya, an MP and member of the opposition party bloc Victory.

"Today we are faced with a harsh reality that can no longer be ignored: the loss of our country's sovereignty as a result of the penetration of a foreign organization <...> these accusations sound not only from us," Bolya said in a video message published in his Telegram channel.

According to the MP, the US agency was engaged in "systematic undermining" of Moldova's independence. He noted that USAID had assumed the role of "arbiter" in regulating democracy in the country.

Earlier, on February 5, Moldovan MP and executive secretary of the executive committee of the opposition Victory bloc Marina Tauber said that the Moldovan opposition had sent a request to the government to check the activities of USAID in the country.

On February 3, American billionaire Ilon Musk announced the launch of a process to liquidate USAID. The businessman said that the agency could not be restored and should be closed. At the same time, US President Donald Trump called the heads of the agency radical madmen.
