Crime for punishment: the premiere of "Outsourced" went to an orchestra

The secular premiere of the show "Outsource" took place in Moscow on February 11. The story about suicide prisoners in a Kamchatka prison is one of the most anticipated projects of 2025. After "Outsource" was shown in the competition of the festival "New Season" in September, critics proclaimed the series a super hit and proclaimed it the laurels of "The Word of a Patsan". That's why at the first audience screening at the "October" movie theater there were no seats left in the largest hall in Moscow, and even the celebrities had to sit directly on the steps in the aisle. On how the premiere was held - in the material "Izvestia".
Cold reception
In the evening on February 11 in the first hall of the movie theater "October" the apple had nowhere to fall. Free seating provided a real pandemonium, at one point it seemed that the seats are not enough even the crew of "Outsource" and the performers of the main roles. At the same time, the atmosphere was cooler on the track. In the literal sense of the word: the security guards of "October" opened the central doors of the theater, so the celebrities who wanted to pose in front of photographers and talk to the press, did it lightning fast. It is possible that this could be part of a promotional campaign, because the action of the series unfolds in the frosty Kamchatka. The most resistant was the performer of one of the main roles Eldar Kalimulin (plays a prison warden).
- This is my third experience of working with the production company "Wednesday", the third experience of working with director Dushan Gligorov and cameraman Batyr Morgachev. When I saw them among the creators, I immediately realized that we will make something interesting. You wait two or three years for such a script. It's a movie you can talk to, think about. You can get angry at it, disagree with our characters, but I don't think you can stay indifferent. There are times when a show comes out an episode a week, it's annoying. With our series is even good, - told the artist "Izvestia".
The setting is harsh. 1996, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Before the introduction of a moratorium on the death penalty in Russia remains quite nothing. A new sentence enforcer, Kostya (Ivan Yankovsky), is transferred to a special purpose prison - scowling and with his own moral code. He, like his new colleagues - warden, prison doctor and prosecutor - has a pile of problems that need money to solve. His salary is crumbs, so Kostya devises a business model. Secretly from the management for money, he gives the families of the victims of criminals sentenced to death, to bring the sentence to execution themselves. In general, outsources death row inmates.
Introducing the series on the stage of the first hall, the producer of original content of the online cinema Okko Gavriil Gordeev emphasized that the premiere of "Outsource" will be held under different rules. And indeed, the film crew did not come on stage. Instead, Gordeev asked the security guards not to prevent the audience from filming on a cell phone. Because a symphony orchestra was stationed in the corner of the stage. The show was accompanied by live music: on the screen - the show, and on the stage the conductor controls the whole orchestra. Perhaps the phrase "to die with music" has never been so literal.
- Secondly, I ask you as never before to stand up during the final credits, you can only stand up if you want to applaud the artists," Gordeev said, adding even more intrigue to the proceedings.
Jankowski as a symbol of the most anticipated projects
The creators of "Outsource" are the duo of director Dushan Gligorov and cameraman Batyr Mogachev. Together with screenwriter Oleg Malovichko, they produced the series "Chimera", "Crystal" and "Route". The latter is one of the best projects of 2024, as confirmed by the Golden Eagle award in the corresponding category. This time Gligorov and Mogachev worked with screenwriter and showrunner Anna Kozlova.
The excitement before the premiere was intensified by the news in industrial Telegram channels that allegedly on Avito resellers are offering tickets to the closed Moscow premiere of "Outsource". In reality, no one offered to buy tickets, in free access they are not, and the "news" - part of the promotional campaign of the series.
Ivan Yankovsky, the main character of the evening, at the premiere traditionally came with his wife, actress Diana Pozharsky. The actor is modest when asked if he can be considered a symbol of successful and expected projects.
- I just try to play interesting things, with interesting partners and with cool dramaturgy. If it comes out in such a way that it becomes the most expected by the audience, then I am only happy. I'm hooked that this project is discomforting, that it's a conversation with the audience. That's something I try to choose a lot. If you remember my previous roles, they were based on the same thing - "Fisher", "The Word of a Kid". I have a lot of works that look for pain points in the audience, - said Yankovsky "Izvestia".
At the same time, many critics who watched the series on the "New season", compared the hero Yankovsky with Danila Bagrov. The actor himself "fundamentally disagrees that Kostya is Danila". "It is strange to see the similarity with him. But if it is guessed and it can be seen, then I will not mind. But still it seemed to me that this is some kind of self-identical character," said the actor. And also added that his phrase that in preparation for the role he communicated with real prisoners, - a joke.
Concentration of violence, the 90's and the same Ivan Yankovsky in the center - involuntarily wonder if before us "New word patsana"? Like Zhora Kryzhovnikov's series, "Outsource" is another chronicle of a very difficult historical period, another event and another difficult conversation to which the viewer is called directors and writers. True, in the case of "Outsource" it is more uncomfortable and deafening in its hopelessness and hopelessness. But it's unlikely to have the same impact on mass culture as "The Kid's Word" did. And it's not that we're all a little tired of the 90s. It's just that "Outsource" feels more like a requiem. Maybe the music at the premiere wasn't just for beauty.
