Agreements on the Ukrainian conflict cannot be reached without Europe's participation, the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, said in an interview with the Corriere della Sera newspaper on 11 February.

So the politician responded to a question about the EU's role in the peace process between Russia and Ukraine.

"This conflict is happening in Europe. It concerns Ukraine, it concerns Europe, and for peace to really come, Europe has to be part of it. I don't see a single agreement in which the EU is not involved," Callas said.

Earlier, on February 3, Kallas called on the European Union to increase financial support for Kiev and impose new sanctions against partner countries of Russia and the Russian energy sector.
