The United States currently has no plans to reduce the number of troops on foreign bases. This was announced by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on February 11.

"There are no plans to reduce anything," he told reporters at the headquarters of the African Command in Germany, a video of his statement was published by MagnoNews on social X (former Twitter).

Hegseth noted that the U.S. side may reconsider the number of U.S. troops in Europe after the conflict in Ukraine is resolved, expressing hope that U.S. President Donald Trump will soon implement a peace agreement.

Earlier, on February 8, Trump said that the new United States administration would consider cutting military spending. The American leader also said that the US is losing trillions of dollars due to potentially illegal spending. According to him, inspections of government agencies have revealed "huge levels of corruption" and misuse of funds. He noted that the investigation was conducted on his personal initiative.

On January 20, the White House website published Trump's executive order suspending Washington's development aid to other countries for 90 days. Later, on January 25, Reuters reported that USAID froze programs to support foreign countries, including Ukraine, following a State Department dispatch approved by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Later, on February 3, Ilon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), announced that the process to liquidate USAID had been launched. The billionaire noted that this agency is not recoverable, it should be closed. At the same time, Trump called the heads of the agency radical madmen.
