Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024, is making statements about a possible exchange of territories with Russia to settle the Ukrainian conflict in order to hide the seriousness of the disaster that befell the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Izvestia on February 11.

Earlier in the day, Zelensky said in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian that if US President Donald Trump succeeds in organizing peace talks between Moscow and Kiev, the Ukrainian leader plans to offer Russia to exchange land in Kursk Region seized by the AFU for some part of the regions that have become part of the Russian Federation, but he himself does not know which one.

"In the Kursk region, the neo-Nazis who are besieged there are waiting for land without any exchange with an area of about a meter by two and a meter and a half or two meters deep. Such statements Zelensky makes to hide the true scale of the disaster for the AFU in this direction," - said Zakharova.
