Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov held a working meeting with the director of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, Akmal Burkhanov, and the parties signed a protocol on cooperation. This was reported on the website of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office on February 11.

In his welcoming speech Krasnov noted the similarity of views and approaches of the two countries to solving the primary tasks in the field of combating corruption. He pointed out that the allied nature of relations between Russia and Uzbekistan has been repeatedly emphasized by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Prosecutor General also announced the signing of a document providing for coordination of the parties' work on international platforms, including at the next Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption, scheduled for December this year in Doha.

"Russia has passed both cycles of review of compliance with the UN Convention against Corruption, in this regard, the issue of the future of this mechanism is particularly relevant for us and is now being actively discussed on the Vienna platform," - said Mr. Kranov.

In conclusion, the Prosecutor General thanked Burkhanov for the dialog, and the parties signed the protocol.

In November 2024, Krasnov visited Tashkent, where he discussed with his Uzbek counterpart Nigmatilla Yuldashev the main issues related to cooperation between the agencies of the two countries. The heads of the agencies also shared each other's views on improving mechanisms for protecting citizens' rights and fighting crime.

During the second day of his working visit, Krasnov laid flowers at the Ode to Fortitude memorial at the Victory Park complex in Tashkent. The ceremony took place to the musical accompaniment of a military band and in the presence of a guard of honor.
