GIM Director General awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky

On February 10, 2025 the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin signed the Decree "On awarding state awards of the Russian Federation". Alexei Levykin, General Director of the State Historical Museum, was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky for his contribution to the development of national culture and art.

Alexey Konstantinovich Levykin has been the head of the State Historical Museum since 2010. Under his leadership the Museum of the Patriotic War of 1812 was opened, a large-scale restoration of the Pokrovsky Cathedral and the building of the former City Duma, the first comprehensive restoration of the monument to Minin and Pozharsky on Red Square, the Exhibition Complex of the Historical Museum, the Artillery Yard and the first regional branch of the Historical Museum in Tula were opened.

In 2025, the Central Museum of the History of the Russian Cossacks will be opened, and in 2026 - the Exposition and Exhibition Complex near the Novodevichy Monastery. The museum is actively engaged in publishing, exhibition, scientific activities, restoration of the museum complex objects, work on popularization of historical knowledge. The Historical Museum was the first of the federal museums to introduce measures to support the sites of the NWO, provides support to educational and cultural institutions of new Russian regions.

The Order of Alexander Nevsky is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation who hold public service positions for special personal services to the Fatherland in state building, many years of conscientious service and high results achieved in the performance of their official duties, in strengthening Russia's international prestige, the country's defense capability, economic development, science, education, culture, art, health care and other merits, as well as to citizens of the Russian Federation for high personal achievements in the field of state building.
