The State Duma reminded of the norms of overtime pay

Overtime work of employees should be paid: the first two hours at least at one and a half times the rate, and the subsequent hours at least at double the rate. Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, reminded about it on Tuesday, February 1. The deputy revealed this and other legal ways to combat the arbitrariness of employers.

She specified that attraction to overtime work is possible only with a written notice.

"In this case, overtime work can be no more than 120 hours per year, and they are paid: the first two hours at one and a half times the rate, the following - in double. You can pay more, but you can't pay less," the politician told Lenta.Ru.

If the rights of employees are violated, then first of all it is necessary to try to talk to the management of the organization about the violations, Bessarab recommended.

The parliamentarian noted that 10 years ago employees were much more afraid to demand fulfillment of their labor rights, because they were afraid of dismissals.

"Today the opposite reaction is taking place. Workers, especially people 30 years old and younger, prefer not to enter into a conflict at all. They write a statement without conflict and leave for another employer. Therefore, in my opinion, a thinking, thoughtful employer will be very attentive to the fulfillment of labor rights of the employee and create a comfortable working atmosphere," she added.

Bessarab reminded that if the rights are violated, there is a trade union, a commission on labor disputes, the State Labor Inspectorate, which should be addressed.

Earlier in the day, the State Legal Department (SLD) of the President did not support the draft law of the Ministry of Economic Development, which includes new rules for overtime work, RT reports.

It is noted that part of the bill's provisions amending the Labor Code (LC) in order to increase the flexibility of the labor market against the backdrop of staff shortage was rejected, as the GPU considered them unacceptable from the position of social protection of citizens, Regnum news agency reports.

Among the most important is the doubling of overtime limits to four hours per day and 240 hours per year, as specified on the website kp.ru.

Earlier, on January 31, the trade union "Teacher" sent a letter to the Ministry of Education with such a proposal that a teacher's teaching load of more than 18 hours a week or the work of social pedagogues and educators over 36 hours should be paid as overtime.
