Resident of Kherson region sentenced to 11.5 years for spying for Ukraine's special services

The Kherson regional court has sentenced a local resident to 11.5 years in a strict regime colony in a case of spying on units of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) in the interests of Ukrainian special services. This was reported in the press service of the FSB Department in the region on February 11.

It is established that the defendant from March to April 2023 with the help of messenger collected and transmitted information about the locations of the Russian Armed Forces and the location of communication facilities on the territory of the region to representatives of the special services of Ukraine.

"A criminal case under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Espionage") has been initiated and investigated. Taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced the defendant to 11 years and six months of imprisonment with serving his sentence in a strict regime penal colony. The sentence has not entered into legal force", - concluded in the agency.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the Supreme Court of Russia sentenced a spy of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) from Kinelsky district of Samara region Georgy Kamlash to 13 years in a strict regime colony. The cassation appeal against the sentence under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "High Treason" was considered at a closed session.

Before that, on January 31, it was reported that the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) sentenced a 69-year-old resident of Donetsk, accused of espionage, to 13 years in prison. A criminal case under a similar article was opened against the man.
