Two Ukrainian militants sentenced to 15 and 16 years for crimes in Kursk region

A court has sentenced two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for committing a terrorist act in Kursk Region. This was reported on February 11 by the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation in its official Telegram channel.

According to the IC, on August 8, 2024 Dmitry Pilyai and Alexander Sereda illegally crossed the border of Russia, carrying military weapons and explosive devices.

While in the Korenevsky district of Kursk region, Pilyai and Sereda intimidated and terrorized the local population, occupied private homes, and fired on Russian military and civilians.

The militants were detained on September 19 of the same year by Russian servicemen.

"The court's verdict sentenced Pilyai to 15 years' imprisonment with the first 3 years to be served in prison and the rest in a strict regime penal colony. Sereda was sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment with serving the first 3 years in prison, and the rest in a strict regime penal colony", - stated in the department's message.

Earlier, on February 6, the IC reported the detention of three militants of the VFU, who committed terrorist acts in the Kursk region. The militants received prison sentences of 15 and 16 years. In court they said that they admit guilt.
