Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov held a meeting with the US ambassador on the work of foreign institutions. This was reported by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on February 11.

"Ryabkov held a scheduled meeting with the US ambassador. It was devoted to the work of foreign institutions," she told RIA Novosti."

Earlier, on February 10, Ryabkov said that relations between Moscow and Washington were on the verge of rupture. He pointed out that the administration of the previous US President Joe Biden chose the path of hybrid warfare and introduced it in all its documents. In addition, the team of the former American leader imposed on all its partners in various blocs the idea that Russia could be strategically defeated.

Before that, on February 9, Zakharova said that Russia has long ago decided on the candidacy of the ambassador to the United States, but the aggreeman from Washington has not yet been received.

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov finished his work in this post in October last year. In December, Moscow sent a request to the U.S. side for preliminary approval of the candidacy of a new ambassador. According to media reports, it could be the director of the Foreign Ministry's North America Department, Alexander Darchiev, but the ministry did not comment on this information.
