Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov became the first in history to cross the South Atlantic on a paddleboat. He reported about it on February 11 in his Telegram-channel.
"This night the AKROS boat crossed 20 degrees east longitude (Cape Needle, South Africa) and entered the Indian Ocean", - stated in the statement.
It is specified that for 68 days he reached the Indian Ocean, and on the most difficult and dangerous route, and continues his passage to Australia.
Konyukhov in 2002 crossed the Atlantic Ocean from east to west from the Canary Islands to the island of Barbados on a paddleboat "Uralaz", the travel time amounted to 46 days.
Also in 2014, he crossed the Pacific Ocean from Chile to Australia in 160 days. He also crossed the Pacific Ocean from New Zealand to Cape Horn in 2019 in 154 days.
Earlier, last July, Konyukhov set a world record by drifting on the single polar station SP-24 near the North Pole in almost 21 days. It was specified that Konyukhov spent a total of 20 days, 22 hours and 45 minutes on the ice floe, setting a world record on a single research polar station near the North Pole in terms of duration and distance traveled.
