- The Ministry of Internal Affairs gave advice on protecting your phone from hacking and theft

Complex passwords, as well as the ban on displaying messages on the locked screen can protect a smartphone from hacking and identity theft. This was reported on February 11 by the press service of the department for organizing the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs department in Telegram-channel.
"A modern smartphone is more than just a gadget. If a person actively uses the capabilities of the device - there will be almost all of life: banking applications, "State Services", mail, social networks, galleries with photos, work chats. In the hands of criminals, the phone turns into a key to all your data," the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The agency explains that to avoid hacking and theft, you need to use complex passwords to unlock the screen, as well as disable auto-save passwords in the browser. In addition, you should remove the display of SMS on the locked screen, as attackers can see the confirmation code. It's also best to allow logging into important apps using your fingerprint or Face ID.
The Interior Ministry warns against leaving the phone unattended, as its loss is a potential leak of the user's personal information.
Earlier, on February 10, the Interior Ministry reported that attackers are calling Russians with an offer to update the account on "Gosusluga". It was noted that in most cases, fraudsters seek to obtain an SMS-code required to restore access to the account. The agency reminded that "Gosuslugi" does not call users, as it is technically and economically unrealizable due to the large number of registered people.
