Moscow schoolchildren won the Russian chess championship


Schoolchildren from Moscow have won the Russian chess championship. They won 12 gold, seven silver and six bronze medals, the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin wrote in his official Telegram channel.
One of the best results - at pupils of the children's and youth sports school named after M.M. Botvinnik of the Moscow Palace of Pioneers, who became champions in their age categories.
14-year-old Nikolai Vasilkov won eight consecutive victories in classical chess, beating 57 opponents. 12-year-old Vadim Starikov also competed in the classical chess category. He won the gold medal a round before the finish. Diana Preobrazhenskaya became the best in rapid chess and blitz among schoolchildren under 15 years old. 11-year-old Alice Henrietta Junker from Anatoly Karpov's school won in classical chess and blitz.
Other pupils of Anatoly Karpov's school, "Intellect", "Youth of Moscow", "Bibirevo" creative center and pupils of Grandmaster Andrey Selivanov also showed good results.
