Rostec reported the transfer of PD-8 engines for SJ-100 airplane testing

The first PD-8 engines have been handed over for flight testing of the Sukhoi Superjet (SJ) 100 regional passenger airplane. This was reported on February 11 in the press service of the state corporation "Rostec".

"The United Engine Corporation of Rostec State Corporation has handed over the first PD-8 engines for installation on the SJ-100 short-range airliner. After completion of ground testing, flight tests of the power units will begin as part of the airplane," the corporation said in a statement.

The unit was manufactured at the ODK-Saturn enterprise. Its powerplant was created taking into account the experience of creating the more powerful PD-14, Rostec specified.

"PD-8 engines have been handed over to our aircraft builders in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, who together with representatives of ODK will carry out finalization work directly at the plant and prepare the aircraft for the first flight with domestic powerplants," said Vladimir Artyakov, deputy director general of the state corporation.

According to him, at the moment Rostec aims to start flight tests of the domestic airplane in a short time, as well as to pass the necessary certification.

Earlier, on February 6, it was reported that in Komsomolsk-on-Amur there will be a large warehouse complex with an assembly area of SJ-100 aircraft engines. The area of the logistics center will be 10 thousand square meters. m.

Before that, on February 5, Rostec presented the PD-8 aircraft engine for the SJ-100 airliner at the NAIS-2025 national civil aviation infrastructure exhibition in Moscow. It was specified that leading enterprises of the Russian aviation industry were involved in its development. The state corporation said that the engine will soon be put into the air as part of the SJ-100 airliner to undergo flight tests.
