Russian leader Vladimir Putin has posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia to Sergey Yefremov, vice-governor of Primorsky Krai and former commander of the volunteer battalion "Tiger". This was announced by the Governor of the region Oleg Kozhemyako on February 11 during a farewell ceremony for the deceased.
"By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Sergei Efremov was awarded the high rank of Hero of Russia with the awarding of the medal "Gold Star"," he noted.
In addition, the Order of Courage was posthumously awarded to fighters Alexander Ivarovsky and Sergei Dmitriev, who died together with Efremov.
Efremov's death in the special operation zone became known on February 2. Governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako specified that his colleague was injured while returning from a combat mission. According to Kozhemyako, Efremov was "an outstanding person with a good heart." The Tiger unit was formed in Primorye in June 2022 and Yefremov became its first commander. In March 2024, after being appointed vice-governor, he also headed the internal political block of the Primorsky Krai government.
