The crew of the Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Air and Space Forces has struck personnel and a temporary deployment point of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 11.

The ministry specified that the strike was carried out on the reconnaissance targets by aviation bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK). Having received confirmation from intelligence about the destruction of personnel and a stronghold of the AFU, the crew safely returned to the airfield of departure.

Earlier, on February 9, the Defense Ministry reported that an Army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group struck AFU personnel and armored vehicles in the border region of Kursk Oblast with air missiles. After the strike, the crews performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude and also fired heat traps for the AFU anti-aircraft missiles.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
