The owner of the tanker Koala, which had an incident in the port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad Region, was obliged to remove the vessel from the water area within three months. The corresponding order of the captain of the seaport of Ust-Luga Igor Zolotykh was published on February 10.

"Removal of the sunken property to produce within a period not exceeding three months from the date of issuance of this order," - stated in the text.

It is specified that the owner will be able to begin to fulfill the requirement after agreeing the project documentation with the captain of the port of Ust-Luga.

Earlier, on February 9, it was reported that the tanker Koala, on board which is 130 thousand tons of fuel oil, sinks in the port of Ust-Luga. Later, the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, said that the ship's engine had failed, resulting in damage to the engine room. He noted that the tanker was moored at the berth and there was no threat of oil spillage.

Later, the press service of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport reported that the tanker was surrounded by booms. Then it became known that the cargo tanks of the tanker were not damaged and there was no threat of flooding. In addition, Rosmorrechflot reported that there were no casualties as a result of the incident.

On February 10, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said that Finland was going to conduct its own investigation into the Koala accident.
