There were sounds of explosions in the Ukrainian town of Merefa in Kharkiv Region amid an air alert. This was reported on February 11 by the Ukrainian edition "Strana.ua".

"Reported explosions in Merefa, Kharkiv region," - stated in the message of the edition in the Telegram-channel.

According to the online map of Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation, an air alert was declared in Vinnitsa, Zhytomyr, Odessa, Mykolayiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kirovograd, Chernigov and Kiev regions.

The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on the information about the explosions.

The day before it was reported that in Kharkiv there was an explosion amid an air alert. Then there were also explosions in the towns of Samar (until 2024 was called Novomoskovsk) in Dnepropetrovsk region and in Kiev-controlled Kherson.

Russian forces in October 2022 began striking military facilities and related energy and communications facilities in Ukraine. As Russian President Vladimir Putin explained, this was in response to terrorist actions by the Kiev regime.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
