- In the river of the Leningrad region revealed an excess of toxins in 1 thousand times.

In the Neima River in Kingiseppsky district of the Leningrad region was detected a multiple excess of the permissible content of toxic substances. This was reported on February 10 in the press service of the North-West Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor.
It is specified that the appeal about the deterioration of water quality was sent to the department FGBU Glavrybvod, whose subordinate Luzhsky production and experimental salmon farm receives water from the Ivanovo reservoir, where Neima flows into. The press service suggested that the quality of natural water "could have deteriorated due to the continuous long-term discharge of untreated wastewater" into the Neima, which flows into the Khrevitsa River, and after that already into the Ivanovo Reservoir.
"It was found that the effluent exceeded concentrations of suspended solids almost 300 times, oil products more than 1 thousand times, ammonium ions almost 200 times, as well as phenols, manganese, phosphate ions. The discharge of untreated wastewater worsens the quality of natural water in the river," Rosprirodnadzor said in a statement.
The agency suggested that the sources of pollution of the river could be wastewater treatment facilities in the village of Bolshaya Pustomerzha, which receives wastewater from residential houses and nearby businesses, as well as slaughterhouse "one of the agricultural complexes," because, according to Rosprirodnadzor, the water has a characteristic odor and reddish color.
"Deterioration of the quality of natural water in water bodies affects the work of the plant and the death of fish, which are released in the spring into the water bodies of the Leningrad region to maintain the population," - emphasized in the press service.
Sampling within the framework of the field survey was carried out. After calculating the damage that was caused to the Neima River, it will be presented to the State Unitary Enterprise "Lenoblvodokanal". In addition, the agency points out that the treatment facilities, subordinate to "Lenoblvodokanal", require complete reconstruction due to a hundred percent wear and tear.
Earlier, on January 11, it was reported that paint thinner for ships spilled into the Don River in Rostov-on-Don. Petroleum products along the shore are spreading and have already reached the Voroshilovsky bridge. Water samples have been taken, noted the head of the city administration Alexei Logvinenko.
